I managed to get to work on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I was still the trailer getting to meet my probable clients following Nichole, the therapist that is leaving. It seems odd seeing so few clients in a day because its primarily individual. The part that I think I'll love is the contact with families. I've always said that the worst thing that special education did for students was put a bus between the teachers and the parents. Then we ask them to come to an ARD meeting only once a year usually where they've hardly met the people sitting around the table. The comfort factor is eliminated there.
Monday I'll report to work at nine with 4 students to meet with throughout the day. I can leave in between clients if I so choose and have the time or whatever they might have planned. One of the most positive things about this move has been getting away from some of the school bureaucracy. One of the worst things is looking at a patient folder and trying to decipher the paper work. I'll get there. It may taking actually working one through from the point of evaluation but I'll get there.
