Being Weaned into a Poverty

I hope I'm using the word, poverty, as an exaggeration. I'll know pretty quickly.

The Area Agency on Aging has dropped the hammer today. When they called, they will be paying Trent's fees to the adult daycare through September. In October they will pay for 3 days a week. In November they will pay for 2 days a week and then December we'll see 1 day a week paid. Garrett has taken the approach that something will come up that will help and this gives us some time to look for it. I want to be optimistic, but fear is no small villain for me right now.

I hate that at the same time, for those of you familiar with Medicare Part D, Mother goes in the 'donut' hole. Where Mother was paying about $250 or $300 dollars a month on prescriptions, she will now be paying over a thousand for 3 of her 6 medications until January when we start over again. During this time, Mother's taxes and insurance come due as well. I'll be checking on Social Security's LIS (Limited Income Subsidy, I think) to assist with paying for medication or we'll end up taking about $6,000 dollars out of her money market. She's going to out live her money which is something she's always worried about. It is a pretty sure bet that sometime in the near future that she's going to have to replace her sewer line which they estimated at $3,000. Why is it all about money when you don't have any?

So many of you have asked to help in some way. Prayer is something that you all are so good to provide and I am so grateful. I'd also ask that if any of you know of an agency or organization that might be an avenue for assistance that you let me know. I will need to get right on it! Thank you all again for your many thoughts and prayers.

My plan is to write Senator Cornyn again. I will again send a plea for equity for our retired teachers. I also will be contacting teacher organizations as well as our 'beloved' TRS. One letter can make a difference.
