BSA today

Trent is in BSA Hospital as of yesterday afternoon. As always, things move a little more slowly than I had hoped. Trent didn't get the IV antibiotics started until after 9:00 p.m. I guess the results of the cultures weren't available until then. The hand didn't look much better this morning but this afternoon it might look a little better on the back of the hand toward the wrist. Dr. Archer put in the PIC line. Dr. Rodriquez is the Infectious Disease doctor and Dr. Dickson is the plastic surgeon that just works on hands. Dr. Dickson plans to look at the finger again in the morning before deciding whether surgery is indicated.

Trent is really only in discomfort so far. Only local anesthesia so far has been used. I hyperventilate when they talk about 'putting him out' or 'giving him something for pain'. So far there seems to be no need and I pray that that continues. He will be in the hospital at least through the weekend and it sounds like he will be on IV antiobiotics through the PIC line at least for 4-8 weeks. This is obviously a very serious infection.

Sorry to have called so late but I wanted to touch base with you. That finger looks really angry! Trent looks good though and I can't believe how big Landry has gotten. . .how time flys! Love you bunches.
