Not Looking Up

Well, it's not looking up around here. It seems that at every turn in the road I've heard "but not your husband" ever since the diagnosis. Trent's too young, Trent's a wandering risk, Trent doesn't qualify for disability under Social Security, Trent's disability policy won't pay for disability on a diagnosis of Alzheimer's, Trent cancelled his life insurance policy and he can't get any now. Did Trent have long term health insurance? Of course not! The other answers-there are only 2 Alzheimer's units that are lock down for my husband, the wandering risk. They are only $4,000 a month, but don't worry, they don't have any openings anyway + there's a waiting list! Without a doubt, today was one of the most discouraging I've ever had.

Yes, I'm setting up to see the elder lawyer to see about a trust as soon as I can, but with no place open until someone either moves or dies in one of the two facilities, it won't solve or relieve anything. I really need a glimmer at the end of this dark tunnel.

I'm sorry you keep getting pushed down. Are there nursing homes that take alzheimers patients that aren't lock down? I thought someone (?) told me they would wear an bracelet with an alarm.
Our Heavenly Father, we ask You to lay Your healing hand on those who are troubled or sick, that they may be healed and find new health and strength. We pray for the comfort of the bereaved and for peace of mind to those who are disturbed or restless.
Put Your quieting touch upon our distressed minds that we may become calm. We do not ask to escape the demands of a difficult times, but to be better able to deal with them. Come into our minds and hearts and give us new insights, new understanding and a new view to overcome problems. This we ask in Jesus' name, Amen
With love,
Gail

So sorry to hear about all your troubles. I have had a close friend with Alzheimers and it is such a difficult disease. We have had many at our home this year with my father in law and mother. You are in my prayers. My grandmother use to say "no crosses... no crown", sometimes these earthly crosses are so hard to deal with.
